Our Design Philosophy

rabble lab is an emerging small practice aiming for gradual growth in the industry. Our primary focus lies in unique and quirky projects, particularly those that are small yet intricately complex. While we have the expertise to handle larger projects, drawing from our experience at East Coast Architects where we managed multimillion-rand projects, rabble lab started humbly to relish the cultural diversity and the flexibility of working on smaller projects. This allows us to infuse a touch of magic into each individual client's experience.

At rabble lab, we boast in-house expertise in sustainable architecture design. Our founder, Bartjan Hooft, holds a Master's in Science in Sustainable Architecture. We have previously collaborated with companies adhering to the Green Star model of building outlined by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA). 
This wealth of experience influences all our projects, irrespective of their scale. Our commitment to utilizing locally sourced timber continues to expand as we prioritize concepts like 'Life Cycle Analysis' and 'Net Zero' best practices in our designs.

Our approach, which we term as one-on-one architecture, involves hands-on exploration akin to constructing lifelike models. A distinct feature of rabble lab is our preference for handling projects as turnkey solutions, setting us apart from traditional design practices and contractors in this regard.
